Sick Babies
Mom took Tyler to the doctor last Tuesday. They said he had bronchitis and possibly walking pneumonia. He is starting to feel a lot better but still has a horrible cough. Thursday morning, I noticed that Callie was a little congested and I called the pediatricians office and told them what was going on and that Tyler had just been in there and the doctor told us we would all probably catch what Tyler had. They said to use a nasal aspirator and saline drops on Callie and use the humidifier. Callie continued to get a little worse. Yesterday, I called back because I was having trouble getting the tip of the aspirator in her little nose. They said if her congestion was that bad I just needed to bring her in. Mom had to go to the heart doctor with Will and she took Tyler with her, and I took Callie to the doctor. Her weight is back up to birth weight at 7 pounds 15 ounces. They looked at her, listened to her breathing, and decided to do some blood work to check for RSV. After a long wait, Dr. Stanley came back and said Callie did have RSV. He also said that more than likely that was probably what Tyler had as well. Unfortunately, there is NOTHING they can do for newborns except the saline drops and humidifier. She is pitiful. It makes me really sad to listen to her horrible cough and trying to breath because she is sooooooo congested. They told me to watch her really close for heavy labored breathing, wheezing, and not eating. So far none of those symptoms have seemed to be a problem. We are praying she gets better quick and they do not have to admit her into the hospital. I will post a picture from the doctor later today.
