Little Bit at Childrens Hospital

Saturday night, Scott and I had a time with Callie. I tried to get her comfortable for about 2 hours from 11-1. I finally decided to feed her one more time and see if we could get her to go to sleep. She threw up all over me and our bed, so we went to the couch to try to sleep with her sitting up. Her cough was soooooooooo bad, where she could almost not catch her breath. She was doing this weird thing where she was making these miserable noises. I finally broke down and asked Scott to go get my mom from upstairs. We debated taking her to the hospital but the road were so bad and icy. Mom stayed up with her while Scott and I tried to get some sleep. At about 5, she woke me up to feed Callie. After I fed her she continued that weird coughing spell she was doing earlier in the night. Mom took her outside to see if it would help her catch her breath, that did not work either. Mom told us she would go ahead and take her to the ER if we were her. Scott and I packed up some stuff and headed out in the ice. I was so worried we were not going to make it because the subdivision was so bad. Once we got on John Sevier it was better and Chapman Hwy had some bad spots but we knew we could probably make it to the hospital.

Luckily, when we got to the ER there was no one waiting. I have never been to Childrens with no one waiting to be seen. We saw the doctor and she told us that Callie's symptoms were all normal for the RSV, but they wanted to admit her to watch the symptoms and make sure she was ok. They took us upstairs and into a room. Callie was pretty peaceful yesterday. Upstairs they use this vacuum suction thing to get all the mucus out of her nose and throat. This has helped her breathe and eat. They come in and do that every couple of hours. They also are giving her saline mist through a mask about 3 times a day. This helps to break up what all is in her chest. Last night, Callie had a rough night. She coughed the whole time. It was really sad. She was so uncomfortable and crying. The doctor had told us yesterday in the ER that she would probably get worse before better. Last night was way worse.

This morning, the doctor came in and looked at Callie. He said that she sounded a little worse today than yesterday. He said that was normal and what he expected. Hopefully this morning and last night were the worse and maybe today and tonight will continue to improve. Please keep us in your prayers and that Callie gets better soon.
