Surgery Day

This morning we made it to the Children's Hospital Surgery Center at 6:45. We filled out the paperwork and they took Tyler back to the Pre-Op room. We were able to sit there with him while they asked us medical questions and took his vitals. He seemed to be taking it well. They had me give him some Tylenol and "Happy Juice". The "Happy Juice" was just a medicine I gave him in his mouth through a syringe. It caused him to relax and not be bothered when they took him away from us and into the operating room. It was so sad to watch them wheel him back into the room, just looking at us. It was so hard to give him a kiss and send him off to his surgery. We were seriously in the waiting room 6 minutes when Dr. Belmont came in to tell us he was all finished. He talked to us for a little bit and told us Tyler did fine and what to expect in the next few days. When he was through talking to us we were able to go see Tyler in the recovery room. It was soooooo sad. Tyler was just helpless and so upset. The nurses kept telling us this was all normal and that he was just upset because of how he felt coming out of the anesthesia. We were there for about 30 minutes. Tyler drank a little juice and pretty much cried the entire time. We were in and out of the Surgery Center for only 2 hours. He cried the entire way home. It was so pitiful. I got into our bed with Tyler and tried to get him to go to sleep. For about 3 hours, he would sleep and wake right back up in 15 minutes over and over. Finally, at about 1:00 he fell asleep and has been asleep since. Last night, Scott had a store meeting and they decorated with balloons. All of his associates know how much Tyler loves balloons, so they packed up the balloons in garbage bags for us to give Tyler today when he woke up. There are probably 40 balloons. I can't wait for Tyler to wake up and see his big alligator balloon and the balloons from Home Depot. He will be so excited. I am glad we went through with having the tubes done, and I hope that this will bring little Tyler some relief. Thanks for all of your concern and prayers.
